AdminHistoryEva Elizabeth Bailey (nee Blackhall) was born on the 8th August 1908 in Cirencester. She was one of nine children and when she was three years old her family moved to Wednesbury.

She began her nursing training in 1927 at Hallam Hospital, West Bromwich, and stayed there for three years. She became a State Registered Nurse in 1930 and became a State Certified Midwife on the 15th August 1931. She married John Bailey, an Iron Moulder who served in the RAF during World War Two; in August or September 1931 and they had three children, Barbara (b. 1932), Marion (1936) and John (1947). Following the birth of Barbara, Eva went in to private midwifery and moved to Daisy Bank, Coseley in 1934. In 1936 she began to work for Coseley Urban District Council and worked for the various local authorities that Coseley came under until her retirement in January 1969. According to a former neighbour, Eva lived in a bungalow on Rounds Road, Daisy Bank, from at least the early 1960s and went to work on a bicycle.

She lived to the age of 95 and died on the 7th May 2004.
