About the online catalogue
The online catalogue allows you to search for information about the archives
and local history collections held at the Dudley Archives and Local History
Centre.
The collections cover centuries of local history, with the oldest item dating
from 1182. We hold a wide variety of material including original hand-written
documents, audio-visual material, printed books & pamphlets, ephemera,
newspapers, journals & magazines, trade directories, photographs, maps, plans,
prints and drawings. Of particular note is the Dudley Estate Archive, the family
papers of the Earls of Dudley which chart the development of much of the region.
Our extremely diverse collections provide a rich resource for learning and
discovery.
Our holdings include:
- Dudley Metropolitan Borough historical records, including council
minutes
- Records of the Local Authorities that historically made up the borough
- Parish and nonconformist records
- School records
- Papers of local people and families including the Dudley Estate
Collection
- Title deeds
- Records of local businesses and solicitors
- Records of local organisations, including political parties, cultural
groups and sports teams
- Local History collections including books, journals, pamphlets, maps,
audio-visual material and photographs
We are working to catalogue all of our records and new records are added on a
regular basis so please be aware that this is a work in progress and that
currently not all collections are included in the catalogue. Please contact us
