TitleANNOTATED ADVERTISING COPY AND OTHER REPROGRAPHIC MATERIAL
DescriptionThere were three steps involved in introducing artwork into an item of printed advertising. First, a photographic negative was sent to the printer with editing instructions. Secondly, the printer would make a bromide print of the photograph, mount it on stiff card, edit it by means of blocking, airbrushing and retouching, and send the result to the client for approval. Thirdly, once the client was fully satisfied, the finished "bromide" was applied in the production of a printing block. The majority of the bromides in this section were produced by Beck & Inchbold of Leeds.

Any date indicated is the date when the artwork was processed, not necessarily the date of the photograph. Nearly all the artwork was produced during the period 1914-1921.
