DescriptionDSCAM/5/8/7/23: Abstract of the mortgage (dated 24 Feb. 1821) by Roger Wright Hawkes of a sixth share in the Bufferys Estate etc., for £5000, due under the 1809 Borradaile marriage settlement (see above); and of endorsement dated 26 Sept. 1833, releasing his equity of redemption to the trustees of that settlement.
DSCAM/5/8/7/24: Administration (8 Oct. 1821; Prerogative Court of Canterbury) of the will of George Wright Hawkes granted to Thomas Hawkes, Roger Wright Hawkes and Allice Lawrance Hawkes, as to goods in England;
attached will (29 June 1812) of George Wright Hawkes of Liverpool, Lancashire, merchant; £500 to wife, Ann Lawrence Hawkes, and household effects during widowhood; share in partnership at Liverpool with Thomas Wright (brother) and John Michael Malonek (brother-in-law), and in partnership as a glass merchant at Dudley with Thomas Hawkes, to be continued at discretion of executors; otherwise, general trust for sale; to provide income of £1000 p.a. to wife during widowhood, with balance accumulating to capital, which is to be divided amongst children, Lawrance Hawkes, Woottan Hawkes and Adelaide Hawkes, at the age of 21 (remoter issue taking per stirpes), with cross remainders, as tenants in common, sons taking double the portions of daughters, and the share of a daughter being in trust for her for life, thence to her issue as specified; trustees, executors and guardians, Roger Wright Hawkes, Edward Dixon, Esq., John Badley, surgeon and Joseph Cox, nail ironmonger, all of Dudley; executors and guardians, Thomas Hawkes, and wife (until her remarriage);
attached copy will (dated 5 June 1816) of George Wright Hawkes now residing in the City of New York, North America, being about to embark for England and leaving his family behaind; all to wife for widowhood; then to children Adelaide and Wootton Wright Hawkes; guardians, trustees and executors, John M.P. Lawrance, Esq., Robert Troup, Esq., William Henederson, Esq. and Peter P. DSCAM/5/8/7/30: Copy deed of disclaimer (dated 14 Aug. 1822) of Edward Dixon, John Badley and Joseph Cox as trustees under the 1812 will of George Wright Hawkes; reciting that the testator made a will at New York, where he was then residing, on 5 June 1816, which is invalid as to real estate (having only two witnesses) etc.

DSCAM/5/8/7/35: Abstract of lease and release (dated 21-22 Feb. 1825) by Ann Lawrance Hawkes and others, to Edward Dixon of Ashwood House, parish of Kingswinford, Staffs., Esq. and James Bourne the younger of Tansley Hill, parish of Dudley, gentleman, being the pre-nuptial settlement of Mrs Hawkes and Daniel Bolton, Lieutenant, Royal Engineers.
DSCAM/5/8/7/36-37: Copy release and assignment (dated 5 Jan. 1826) by Thomas Hawkes of Himley, Staffs., Esq., to Roger Wright Hawkes, late of Dudley but now of the City of London, Esq. and Abiathar Hawkes of Dudley, Esq., of his one sixth share in messuages, lands, premises and minerals specified at Blowers Green, Scotts Green, Dancers Land, Acton/Ashton Barbors, Stubble Leasow, Cooks Tetnall, Pear Tree Lane, all Netherton and Dudley as specified, for the residue of terms of 60 years, 5 years, 42 years and in perpetuity as specified, upon trust for sale and to secure the repayment of £6400 and interest to Sarah Malonek of Leamington Priors, Warwickshire, widow. And bond of same date from same to same as additional security.
DSCAM/5/8/7/38-39: Bond (18 June 1829) of Thomas Hawkes of Himley, to Cornelius Cartwright of Dudley, surgeon and James Bourne the younger of Tansley Hill, as additional security for £2500 secured by mortgage of even date. And declaration of trust (same date) by Cartwright and Bourne that the money is that of the executors of George Wright Hawkes.
