DescriptionDSCAM/5/8/7/1: Probate (5 June 1738) of the will (dated 20 Jan. 1737/8) of Abiathar Hawkes of the parish of Dudley, butcher; everything to wife until son, Thomas Hawkes be of age, then messuages etc. in High Street, Dudley or standing behind same, to Thomas; £150 to daughter, Hester Hawkes, to be paid by Thomas when she is 21 and charged on the High Street premises; own dwellinghouse in High Street and that occupied by Joseph Stokes, to wife, Hester, for life, thence to Thomas; £10 to the poor, executrix is wife.
DSCAM/5/8/7/2-3: Copy release [lease wanting] (dated 28 Dec. 1765) by John Bridgwater of Dudley, Worcs., spinning wheel maker and Thomas Hawkes of Dudley, butcher, to Henry Badeley of the same, mercer, of one third of a messuage and 5 (formerly 6) closes of land (16 acres) at Dudley, adjoining the Dudley-Blowers Green road, a close purchased of Oliver Dixon called Holes, part of Leather (2 acres), and a messuage, a cottage and Further Aston Barbers (3 acres), and a barn and 4 acres of land and Hither Aston Barbers (2 acres), all at Netherton, parish of Dudley; consideration of £560 5/-; recites purchase deeds from the Revd William Willetts (17 May 1764), Oliver Dixon [see DSCAM/5/8/4/2], and John Finch (5 Mar. 1765) [DSCAM/5/8/2/17].

And copy of conveyance of same date of another third of the premises by same to Anthony Badeley of Dudley, hop merchant.
DSCAM/5/8/7/4: Attested copy of the will (dated 4 Feb. 1772) of Anthony Badley of Kingswinford, Staffs., hop merchant; personal estate to William Badley (brother) and Elizabeth and Ellen Badley (sisters); real estate in the parishes of Kingswinford and Dudley and minerals at Blows Green and Dixons Green, to brother and sisters for life, with benefit of survivorship, then 2 dwellinghouses in Kingswinford, 16 acres of land and one third interest in clay at Blows Green, to nephew John Badley, son of Ratcliffe Badley, charged with a legacy of £200 to niece, Elizabeth Badley (John's sister); copyholds called Handhills or Wilson's Tenement, in the parish of Kingswinford, and half of his third share of coals, and one third of the Blows Green clay, to nephew John Badley, son of Henry Badley, charged with £100 to the eldest son of John and Ann Creswell of Chappel in frith, Derbyshire, and £50 to their eldest daughter; interest in the Badley and Hawkes partnership, half of his one third share of coals and the final third of the Blows Green clay, to nephew William Badley, son of Henry Badley, charged with £50 to the Creswells' eldest daughter and £100 to the eldest daughter of John and Mary Bennett of Chappel; legacies to sink into residue of legatees die under age etc.; executors, William, Elizabeth and Ellen. DSCAM/5/8/7/5: Attested copy of the will (dated 14 Apr. 1772) of John Hickin of Audmore, parish of Gnossall, Staffs., gentleman; £700 to daughter, Ann Hickin, to include all sums to which she may be entitled under his marriage settlement and under the wills of Edward Moore and Margaret Moore, and void if she challenges it; leasehold tithes at Knightly, Staffs. and leasehold prebendal; land, to wife Mary Hickin, plus household goods, farm stock etc.; copyholds at Moore End, parish of Gnosall in trust for the benefit of son, William Hickin, but should he die a minor, then to wife for life; all other real estate t son John Hickin; residue of estate to John; executors, Thomas Sutton the elder of Moore, parish of Gnosall and testator's wife. Examined, 14 Feb. 1784.
DSCAM/5/8/7/6: Abstract of the marriage settlement (dated 9 Oct. 1773) of Thomas Hawkes the younger of Dudley, butcher (eldest son of Thomas Hawkes the elder of Dudley, butcher and grazier, by Sarah his late wife, formerly Sarah Parkeshouse, widow of Edward Parkeshouse, and daughter of Thomas and Phoebe Onions) and Ann Hale, eldest daughter of Anthony Hale of the parish of Tredington, Worcs., gentleman.
DSCAM/5/8/7/7: Attested copy of the will (dated 28 Apr. 1778) of John Hickin of Knightly, Staffs., farmer; all to wife, Sarah, for life, thence to issue, with remainder, in default of issue, to cousin, John Hickin of Stone, surgeon; executors, said cousin and wife. Examined, 14 Feb. 1784.
DSCAM/5/8/7/8: Attested copy of the will (dated 11 Dec. 1782) of Henry Badley of Blows Green, Worcs., gentleman; £10 to youngest son, William, and £10 to wife, Phebe; annuity of £40 to wife, and use of household effects; £200 in ten annual instalments after Phebe's death, to son William; residue of estate to eldest son, John Badley, who is sole executor. Examined, 20 Aug. 1795.
DSCAM/5/8/7/9: Attested copy of the will (dated 31 Jan. 1783) of Ellen Badley of Kingswinford, Staffs., spinster; all to nephew John Badley, son of Henry Badley, who is also sole executor. Examined, 21 Feb. 1792.
DSCAM/5/8/7/10: Attested copy release [lease wanting] (dated 22 June 1784) by William Badley of Dudley, surgeon to John Badley of Blowers Green, parish of Dudley, gentleman (his brother), of his one third share in 4 dwellinghouses and 3 closes purchased of John Finch, a dwellinghouse and appurtenances and 4 closes of land, purchased from [William] Willetts, a parcel of land purchased from Richard Bourne, and in one sixth of the minerals under the premises; and assignment of one third share of a messuage and 10 closes of land at Blowers Green, a cottage there, 2 dwellinghouses and 13 closes of land in the parish of Dudley and one sixth of the underlying minerals, and in all colliery plant, engines etc., for the residue of terms of 60 and 20 years; consideration of £1200 payable by instalments as specified; recites 1765 lease [DSCAM/5/8/8/1], other deeds and will [above]. Memoranda by John Badley of notes of hand given to his brother for payment, dated 24 June 1788-24 June 1790; and receipts of William, dated 31 July 1792-6 Oct. 1794. Examined, 7 Jan. 1796.
DSCAM/5/8/7/11: Attested copy of the will (dated 30 Dec. 1784) of Thomas Hawkes the elder of Dudley, Worcs., gentleman; glass house, warehouse etc., to son Abiathar Hawkes; all other estate upon trust for sale; £500 to daughter, Ann Hawkes; balance to Ann Hawkes and his daughter Mary, wife of Isaac Mason of Birmingham, Warwickshire, factor, in equal shares; executor, Thomas Hawkes of Goswell Street, parish of St James Clerkenwell, Middlesex, butcher (son). Examined, 22 Jan. 1793.
