DescriptionDSCAM/5/8/5/1: Assignment (30 Sept. 1777) by John Finch of Dudley, Worcs., merchant, at the direction of Thomas Hawkes of Dudley, butcher, to the Revd John Carver of Himley, Staffs., Clerk, Archdeacon of Stafford, of a mortgage by demise of 1000 years (dated 16 Feb. 1768) of 2 messuages in Hall Lane, Dudley, lands in/inclosed from Peacocks Field (including the Furlong and Slade), and Eve Hill Croft and a dwellinghouse erected on part of it, to secure £500 and interest.
DSCAM/5/8/5/2: Assignment (28 Sept. 1779) by the Revd John Carver of Hartlebury, Worcs., Clerk, Archdeacon of Stafford, at the direction of Thomas Hawkes of the parish of Westbromwich, Staffs., gentleman, to Edward Dixon of Dudley, Worcs., hop merchant, upon the repayment of the mortgage, of the term of 1000 years in the above premises, in trust for Hawkes and otherwise upon trust to attend the freehold.
DSCAM/5/8/5/3: Assignment (17 June 1777) by Thomas Hawkes of Dudley, butcher, Henry Badley of the parish of Dudley, gentleman and Anthony Badley of the parish of Kingswinford, Staffs., gentleman, to the Revd John Carver of Himley ..., of 13 parcels of land and underlying minerals at Dixons Green, parish of Dudley (as specified), leased to them on 27 Sept. 1766 for a term of 1000 years, as collateral security for £2000 due on mortgage of 25 Mar. 1769; recites relevant deeds.
DSCAM/5/8/5/4: Assignment (8 Nov. 1783) by Hawkes, John Badley of Blowers Green, parish of Dudley, coal master (personal representative of Anthony and Henry Badley, both deceased) and William Badley of Dudley, surgeon (a devisee of Anthony Badley), to the Revd John Carver of Hartlebury, Archdeacon of Surrey, of Lower Brook Piece (5 acres) at Blowers Green, with the fire engine thereupon (being taken from a piece of ground called the Holes and re-erected there), for a term of 60 years, as collateral security for the £2000 due on the 1769 mortgage.
DSCAM/5/8/5/5-6: Assignment (25 Dec. 1793) by the Revd John Carver of the City of Worcester, Archdeacon of Surrey, by the direction of John Badley of Blowers Green, gentleman (son and devisee of Henry Badley of Dudley, mercer, and nephew and devisee of Anthony Badley of Dudley, hop merchant) and Thomas Hawkes of Goswell Street, parish of St James Clerkenwell, Middlesex, merchant (eldest son, devisee and sole executor of Thomas Hawkes of Dudley, butcher), to Samuel Peach of Trysull, Staffs., gentleman, of the mortgage by demise secured on 13 closes of land, fire engines and apparatus etc. at Dixons Green, and a messuage and 5 (formely 6) closes of land and land called Holes, part of Leathers in Wigfield, with all fire engines and apparatus etc. relating to coal mining, all at Blowers Green, for the residue of terms of 1000 and 60 years; recites previous deeds. And bond of same date from Messrs Badley and Hawkes to Peach as additional security for the £2000.
DSCAM/5/8/5/7: Assignment (20 July 1804) of the mortgage of the 13 closes of land etc., by Edward Farmer Taylor of Chicknell, parish of Claverley, Salop, Esq., Thomas Wainwright of Dudley, Worcs., surgeon, Sarah Aston of Newton, Salop, widow and Ann Marygold of Seisdon, parish of Trysall, Staffs., spinster (executors of Samuel Peach), at the direction of Mary Hawkes of Dudley, widow, Edward Dixon of the same, Esq., Thomas Hawkes of the same, glass merchant and George Wright Hawkes, late of Dudley but now of Liverpool, Lancashire, glass merchant (surviving executors of Abiathar Hawkes), to Joseph Dixon of Dudley, banker; recites previous deeds including DSCAM/5/8/6/5 below.
