(trustees of the late Earl of Dudley), of the property and principal and interest secured by #24, and to exercise the right under #24 to raise £1500 and pay it for the benefit of the trustees; recites that Dixon, Dalton etal. are indebted to the trustees for a greater sum than Lay's debt to them.

DSCAM/5/6/1/31-33: Transfer ( 31 May 1847) of mortgages of the Castle Street property, from Jesse Blew of Manchester, calico printer, William Blew of Stourbridge, woolstapler and Maria and Deborah Blew of Edgbaston, spinsters, and Richard Smith, now of the Priory, Dudley, Esq. and the trustees of the late Earl of Dudley, to John Farmer of Shut End, parish of Kingswinford, Staffs., agent and William Blow Collis his trustee, with the consent of Edward Lay, now of Wordsley, parish of Kingswinford, grocer, and appointment and conveyance of the mortgaged premises by Lay, and conveyance by the mortgagees as to various fourth shares, to Collis in trust for Farmer, to secure £2800 (£600+£700+£1500) and interest; consideration of £600 and £700 to the Blews, and £1500 to Smith; recites previous deeds and will of Thomas Blew; endorsed memorandum of sale of the 3 small messuages at the back of Castle Street to William Fellows, 3 Nov. 1848.

DSCAM/5/6/1/34: Appointment and conveyance (20 Mar. 1849) by Edward Lay and Elizabeth his wife, to John Lay and Thomas Whitehouse of Dudley, gentleman (his trustee to uses), of the Castle Inn etc. and 6 other messuages in Castle Street, Dudley (tenants named), to the use of John, with power of appointment, as specified, subject to the various mortgages; declaration barring dower; consideration of £700 owed by Edward to John, and the sums of £700, £800, £2800 and £43 4s 6d (for interest) owed by Edward; recites previous deeds; with attached certificate of acknowledgment by a married woman.
