Description | DSCAM/5/3/3/1: Charge (2 Mar. 1848) by James Richard Taylor and William Farmer of Birmingham, cut nail manufacturers, in favour of Thomas William Vernon of Bilston, Staffs., ironmaster, John Hartland of Westbromwich, Staffs., ironmaster, Josiah Cres[s]well and Edward Lowe Cres[s]well of Tipton, Staffs., iron masters, and James Yates and Thomas Birch of Birmingham, Warwickshire, ironmasters, of their leasehold premises and plant and stock-in-trade at Bishop Street, Birmingham, for the residue of a term of 10 years, except the last three days, to secure monies due and interest at 5%; business to be carried on under the inspection of Yates and under the general supervision of Vernon et al. (Henry Bissell of Handsworth acting as agent for Hartland); Taylor and Farmer acknowledge themselves tenants at will of the premises under their creditors, at £600 p.a.; maximum secured by this deed to be £5000; schedule of machinery on the premises. Endorsed memorandum of assignment of 8 May 1849. |

DSCAM/5/3/3/7: Copy appointment and release by way of mortgage (12 Aug. 1858) by Edward Lowe Cresswell and Josiah Cresswell, both of Tipton, ironmasters (Edward Cresswell and Sons) , to Samuel Stitt and John Johnson Stitt, both of Liverpool, Lancashire, iron merchants, of two-thirds of 2557sq. yds of land near Rotton Park and Icknield Port Road, Birmingham, and of the cut nail works etc. erected thereupon and its plant and machinery, with power of sale, to secure the debts of the Cresswells to Stitt Brothers; recites purchase deed of 1856 and agreement by Cresswells to sell a third share in the premises. |
DSCAM/5/3/3/8: Copy draft conveyance (1859) by the Cresswells to Isaac Badger of Dudley, Worcs., Esq. and Philip Williams of Wednesbury Oak, Staffs., Esq., on behalf of The Dudley and Westbromwich Banking Company, of two-thirds of the land, works and machinery near Icknield Port Road, Birmingham; consideration of £6000 to be placed to the credit of Cresswells' account with the bank, which has made large advances to them. |
