DescriptionDSCAM/5/3/2/1: Tenancy agreement (24 Apr. 1842) between Edward Cresswell, Edward Lowe Cresswell and Josiah Cresswell, all of Tipton Ironworks, parish of Tipton, Staffs., ironmasters and James Crook of Moxley, parish of Darlaston, Staffs., wheelwright, for a wheelwright's shop near Cresswells' Moxley colliery, being rebuilt by the Cresswells on the same site as such a shop previously occupied by Crook which has recently burnt down, fom month to month, at a rent of 15s 2d per month; with attached copy of notice to quit, 18 May 1850.
DSCAM/5/3/2/2: Counterpart lease (24 July 1844) by Messrs Cresswell and Dudley Fereday of Ettingshall Park, Staffs., Esq. (mortgagee), to Thomas Elwell of Moxley, Staffs., ironfounder, of 781sq. yds of land adjoining Bull Lane, Moxley, for a term of 14 years from 24 June 1844, at a rent of £10 p.a.
DSCAM/5/3/2/3: Lease (30 Dec. 1848) by Edward Lowe Cresswell and Josiah Cresswell, to James Johnson of Bradley, township of Bilston, Staffs. and James Foster Bladen of Moxley, Staffs., ironfounders, of the Moxley Foundry and a parcel of 2r. 10p. of land adjoining, for a term of 14 years from 25 Mar. 1848, at a rent of £44 p.a.; plan endorsed.
DSCAM/5/3/2/4: Attested copy of a mortgage (dated 18 Jan. 1850) by James Johnson of Somerhill House, Coseley, parish of Sedgley, Staffs., engineer, ironfounder and ironmaster and James Foster Bladen of Bradley, township of Bilston, ironmaster (partners in the Bull's Bridge Iron Foundry and Works, lately called the Moxley Foundry, in the parish of Wednesbury), to Francis Woodward of Wednesbury, gentleman, of two newly erected messuages and other messuages and buildings [at Moxley], of their leasehold interest in the Moxley Foundry and lands and 3 steam engines and other plant, the benefit of a patent of 1847 for improvements in the manufacture of rivets, railway or other pins, bolts, nuts and spikes, and Bladen's life assurance policy with the United Kingdom Life Assurance Company for £500, to secure £500 and interest; recites deeds of 1836-48. Examined, 10 Apr. 1851.
DSCAM/5/3/2/5: Mortgage (17 June 1850) by James Johnson of Bradley, township of Bilston and James Foster Bladen of Moxley, ironfounders, to James Moilliet and Theodore Moilliet of Birmingham, Warwickshire, bankers (trading as John Lewis Moilliet and Sons), of the Moxley Foundry, the parcel of land 3 steam engines etc., by assignment for the residue of the term of 14 years except the last day, to secure a banking account, and subject to the mortgage #4; schedule describing steam engines in detail; attached consent of the lessors.
DSCAM/5/3/2/6: Assignment (14 Apr. 1851) by Francis Woodward and Messrs Moilliet to Edward Lowe Cresswell and Josiah Cresswell, of all their interest under the above mortgages in the Moxley Foundry, land and plant, for the residue of the term of 14 years less the last day.; consideration of £610 due to Woodward for principal and interest and £10 to the Moilliets (who are owed £500); recites deeds of 1848-50; covenant for the production of the mortgage deed of 18 Jan. 1850; schedule describing steam engines in detail.
DSCAM/5/3/2/7: Duplicate release and quit claim (30 May 1851) by Edward Lowe Cresswell and Josiah Cresswell, to Richard Corbett of Bilston, Staffs., publican, for an encroachment on a street, formerly part of Kidding Leasow, Moxley, in relation to cottages constructed by Corbett; mutual covenants as to the remainder of the street; consideration of £30 ; recites previous deeds; plan endorsed.
