DescriptionDSCAM/5/10/7/1: Will of John Millard of The Beeches, Penn, Staffs., coalmaster; executors, John Yardley of Tipton, Edward Cresswell the younger of Wombourne, William Barrows the younger of the Straits and Stephen Whitehouse (brother-in-law); to be buried at Wednesbury; household effects etc. to value of £300 to wife, Ann Crockett Millard; ring, watch and locket of mother's hair and oil painting of the Madonna and Child to niece, Sarah Jane Whitehouse; clothes to nephew, John Whitehouse; residue of personal estate upon trust for sale; £200 to be paid to niece upon marriage; £200 to Foreman Hodgetts, income from half residue to wife during widowhood, and £1 a week if she remarry, and balance of income to sister, Sarah Whitehouse for life, thence capital to her children except Sarah Jane and John in equal shares as tenants in common at the age of 21 etc., and in default to John, Sarah Jane and Mary Whitehouse; all real estate upon trust to pay income to wife during widowhood, thence to sister for life, then all property in Tipton to nephew John for life, thence to his issue in equal shares as tenants in common at the age of 21, with remainder to niece Sarah Jane for life and then to her issue in equal shares as tenants in common at the age of 21, failing which upon trust for sale for the equal benefit of the other children of his sister then living or her remoter descendants (taking a deceased parent's share per stirpes); Bunkers Hill House, nailshops and other premises in Sedgley to niece Sarah Jane, subject to any payment due to building society, for life, thence to her issue in equal shares as tenants in common at 21, and, in default of issue, to such persons as his niece shall appoint, with remainder to her own right heirs; and all property at Penn to niece Mary Whitehouse for life, thence to her issue etc., failing which, upon trust for sale for the equal benefit of the other children of his sister, etc., etc.

DSCAM/5/10/7/2: Copy of the will (dated 19 Sept. 1878) of John Millard of Gospel End, parish of Sedgley, maltster and farmer; Henry Dudley Bateman of Dudley, Worcs., surveyor and Benjamin Elwell of Woodsetton, Sedgley, agent, to be trustees; they and Mary Forman Millward (wife) to be executors; household effects to value of £300 to wife; £100 to niece, Sarah Jane Miller, and clothing and a mourning ring to her husband, Richard Miller of Albrighton, Salop; £20 each to Bateman and Elwell; freeholds in Tipton Road, Sedgley to niece, Esther Whitehouse; all other real and personal estate upon trust for sale, and income to wife during widowhood and provided she lives in Great Britain and maintains Ellen Sophia Clark, his adopted daughter [later Ellen Sophia Austen, wife of Arthur Collins Austen], baptised as the daughter of Ann Clark at St Pancras, Middlesex; Ellen Sophia to receive one third of the income upon marriage; widow on remarriage or on failing to abide by these conditions to receive £1 a week and trustees to apply balance to the maintenance and education of Ellen Sophia; with remainder to the children of Ellen Sophia, failing which to nieces Sarah Jane Miller and Esther Whitehouse as tenants in common.
