DSCAM/5/1/1/2: Lease and release (13-14 Oct. 1731) by Job Manlin of Woodsetton, parish of Sedgley, nailer and Sarah his wife, to John Whitehouse, of a cottage and 3 crofts of land (one from Kipping Field) containing 3.5 acres, all at Tipton (abuttals given); consideration of £107.
DSCAM/5/1/1/3-4: Mortgage (19 Aug. 1754) by demise of 500 years by John Whitehouse to William Jones of the parish of Aston, Warwickshire, yeoman, of 2 messuages and 3 crofts (three and a half acres) of land at Tipton, to secure £80 and interest. And bond of the same date in £160 as collateral security.
DSCAM/5/1/1/5: Mortgage (24 Feb. 1759) by demise of 1000 years by John Whitehouse to William Jones, now a carrier, of 2 closes of land formerly divided into 3 called Lower Skipping, Lower Skipping Field and Lower Meadow (4 acres), and also Well Piece (3 acres), all at Tipton (abuttals given), to secure £60 and interest.
DSCAM/5/1/1/6-7: Lease and release (14-15 Aug. 1761) by Richard Whitehouse of the Park, parish of Sedgley, yeoman (devisee of his father, John Whitehouse) and Martha his wife, to William Jones, yeoman, of 2 messuages (one lately converted from a barn) and 3 closes of land (three and a half acres), and Hungery Meadow and Skipping Field (6 acres), all at Tipton (tenants given); covenant to levy a Fine; consideration of £340, of which £269 4s 2d is due on mortgage to Jones. And assignment (15 Aug. 1761) by William Jones, with the consent of Richard Whitehouse, to Daniel Jones of Dudley, Worcs., porter, of the two terms of 500 and 1000 years, created by #4 and #5 above, in trust for William Jones and to such uses as he shall appoint, and otherwise upon trust to attend the freehold.
DSCAM/5/1/1/8-9: Two parts of a Final Concord (Michaelmas Term 2 George III - 1761) between Jones (Plaintiff) and Richard Whitehouse and wife (Deforciants).
DSCAM/5/1/1/10: Attested copy of the will (dated 26 July 1766) of William Jones; devises Tipton property to son, Edward Jones, with remainder, in default of issue, to sons William Jones and James Jones in eqal shares; £50 to son Edward; £400 upon trust to be invested until children, Hannah Jones and William Jones, are of age or married, the capital then to be divided equally between them, but should either die beforehand, the share of that child to be divided equally among all his other children except Edward; £600 on like trusts for the benefit of children, Elizabeth Jones, Mary Jones and James Jones, with provision for the maintenance and education etc. out of his residuary estate; £200 to daughter, Phoebe Jones, but in case of her death to be divided between his other children (except Edward); all other estate upon trust for sale; executors and trustees, brother, James Jones of Handsworth, Staffs., gentleman and James Mason of Aston, gentleman.
DSCAM/5/1/1/11-12. Lease and release (26-27 June 1767) by Edward Jones of the parish of Aston near Birmingham, Warwickshire, yeoman (eldest son and devisee of William Jones) to William Crawley of York Buildings, London, gentleman and James Mason of the parish of Aston aforesaid, yeoman, of the premises in Tipton, the 2 messuages and three adjoining closes of land now being described as adjoining Owen's Lane and known as Thistley Leasow, the Middle Leasow and Skipping Field, and all other premises acquired in 1761 by #6 above, being a deed to make Crawley a Tenant to the Praecipe of the Tipton premises for the purposes of suffering a Common Recovery of them, in which Mason shall be Demandant, to the use of Edward Jones, freed from the limitations imposed by #10 above. And exemplification of the Common Recovery (Trinity Term 7 George III - 1767).
DSCAM/5/1/1/13: Lease and release (24-25 Nov. 1773) by Edward Jones and Jane his wife to John White of Wolverhampton, Staffs., of the Tipton property (8a. 3r.); consideration of £1312 10/-.
DSCAM/5/1/1/14: Lease and release (29-30 Nov. 1773) by White, ironmonger to Gilbert Fownes of the parish of Tipton alias Tibbington, coalmaster, of a moiety of the Tipton premises; recites #13, subsequent mortgage for £550 to Rabone and Bingham, and that White was acting jointly for himself and Fownes.
DSCAM/5/1/1/15: Lease and release (23-24 Jan. 1778) being a transfer of their mortgage by Richard Rabone of Birmingham, Warwickshire, buckle maker and Thomas Bingham of the same, buckle maker, at the direction of Gilbert Fownes late of Tipton, now of Dudley, coal master, to John Finch of the same, merchant, of the premises in Tipton, with all fire engines, machinery etc. [for a coal mine], to secure £900 and interest; consideration of £900 by Finch and £52 10/- by Fownes for interest; recites mortgage [wanting] of 26-27 Nov. 1773, #14, subsequent mortgages, partnership of White and Fownes in carrying on coal mines and White's withdrawal and litigation in the Exhcequer and in Chancery.
DSCAM/5/1/1/16: Lease for possession [release wanting] (7 June 1779) by Gilbert Fownes of Dudley, coal master, Abraham Cocker of Wolverhampton, maltster and John Marshall of Wolverhampton, banker, to John Finch of Dudley, Esq., Josiah Hunt of the same place, gentleman and Robert Hancock of Bridgnorth, Salop, gentleman, of the Tipton property.
DSCAM/5/1/1/17: Lease and release (29-30 Apr. 1782) being a transfer of the £900 mortgage by Finch, at the direction of Fownes, with the consent of Hunt, to Hancock, as security for £1000 advanced by him; with covenants by Fownes with Hancock in respect of any losses on the £1000 paid or secured to be paid by Hancock to Fownes for a half interest in the profits of the mine and upon further trusts to pay surplus revenues to those entitled under #16.; recites previous deeds and litigation, inc. the trust deed of 7-8 June 1779 between Fownes and his creditors.
DSCAM/5/1/1/18: Release (4 Oct. 1782) by Finch and Hunt, at the direction of Fownes, to Hancock, of all coal that may be got from the Garden Pit and lying under part of the lands at Tipton, upon trusts for sale, and upon trust to retain £900 from such proceeds and from the sale of the surface lands, retain any monies necessary to compensate him for any loss on the £1000 he has advanced, and pay any balance to Finch and Hunt upon trust for those interested under the 1779 trust deed; recites previous deeds, near exhaustion of coals, sale of lands
