DSCAM/4/6/8/3-4: Draft security (28 May 1890) from Wight to Messrs Morton for the payment of the purchase money (£5000) of the Willesley estate, by an equitable mortgage of (i) property in Oakthorpe, by deposit of deeds as specified (ii) of his reversionary interest under the will of [his siter] Emma Wight of 19 Wellington Road, Edgbaston, spinster, deceased, upon the death of [his sister] Mary Ann Wight. Statutory declaration by Wight (28 May 1890) as to his entitlement under the will and schedule of the securities and estate (4 Stourbridge Canal shares, £1929 in the Birmingham District and Counties Banking Company, £3459 nominal in railway ordinary, preference, guaranteed, extension and debenture stocks).

DSCAM/4/6/8/22: Agreement (14 July 1892) between Wight and Henry Parkes Skidmore of Austins Close, Harbertonford, Devon, gentleman and Thomas Jones of Churchill House near Kidderminster, Worcestershire, galvanized iron manufacturer, and the said H.P. Skidmore; contract to be carrried out by Skidmore alone; purchase of 83a. 3r. 36p. of land and underlying minerals, the Willesley portion of the Oakthorpe estate, with all fixtures and loose plant; covenant to convey land for a tramway, etc.
DSCAM/4/6/8/23: Agreement (14 Nov. 1892) between Wight and Skidmore; gives details of coal seams, which had been represented as intact except for primitive working of the upper coal long ago and certain working by Gibbons/Lord Donnington of part of the area under the lease of 1854 etc., and that in a deed of 11 Aug. 1873 it was stated that the main coal of the Willesley Colliery portion of the Oakthorpe estate had been worked out, that the Stretton portion had not been worked and that only the surface and minimum rents had latterly been receive; in view of the difference between these positions, agreed that £2000 of the purchase money shall be paid into an account in the joint names of the vendor and purchaser, purchaser shall pump out mine and the mines shall be inspected; if lower coals have been worked, purchaser to serve notice on vendor and will be indemnified and compensated from the aforementioned £2000; if coals have not been worked and no notice given, £2000 reverts to vendor etc.; vendor not to sell his Stretton Mineral Estate until 1 Nov. 1893 or such earlier date as the inspection may have occurred etc.; arrangements of arbitration and costs.

DSCAM/4/6/8/28-29: Agreement (29 Dec. 1892) between Wight and Skidmore varying #23; recites that lease is primarily to get coal for the purpose of supplying fuel to pumping machines to draw water from the mine mentioned in the principal agreement, and that £2000 has been depoisted under that agreement; term of 12 months for completing pumping under principal agreement extended to 15 months. Attested copy lease (29 Dec.) by Wight to Skidmore and Jones (H.P. Skidmore and Co.) of a messuage and lands (9a. 1r. 23p.) at Well Close, and all minerals, for a term of 14 years, at a rent of £35 p.a. for the surface and £150 p.a. or part year for the mines, with 6d per statute ton for excess quantities; lessee may determine after the 3rd, 7th or 10th year.

Skidmore and Co.), of a messuage and 9a. of land at Oakthorpe, from year to year at a rent of £27 p.a., of 1r. 23p. of land at Oakthorpe, with the buildings erected thereupon [Springfield Colliery], from year to year at a rent of £10 p.a., and of all minerals at a depth of up to 40 yards as specified, for a term of 6 months and thereafter at 3 months' notice, at a fixed rent of £30 p.a. (or part year), plus 6d per ton for coals raised in excess of the equivalent of £30 each year, and 2d per ton as wayleave.
