DSCAM/4/6/2/19: Notice to Thomas Wight requiring him to convey one third share of the Oakthorpe minerals to the trustees of Mrs Elizabeth Piddocke's marriage settlement; 22 Feb. 1871.
DSCAM/4/6/2/20: Copy undertaking (dated 21 June 1873) by Wight concerning the discovery, ownership and working of coal in the Stretton part of the Oakthorpe estate within 7 years and payment of an annuity of £100 to Mrs Piddocke; supplementary to #21.
DSCAM/4/6/2/21: Draft release (1873) by Penelope Helen Piddocke of Edgbaston, Warwickshire, spinster, Elizabeth Piddocke of the same, widow, Leonard Thomas Piddocke of the same, gentleman, George Bourne of Droitwich, Worcestershire and Sarah his wife, Mary Susannah Piddocke of Edgbaston, the said Penelope Helen Piddocke, John Kemp of Birmingham, the said George Bourne and William Gabb of Droitwich, commission agent (trustees of the 1828 settlement), and John Matthias Green of Birmingham, Warwickshire, gentleman, to Thomas Wight of the Monks House, Chaddesley Corbett,, Worcestershire, gentleman, of the Stretton part of the Oakthorpe estate; recites previous deeds from 1792 including those of 1870 [see DSCAM/4/6/4 series]; deaths intestate and unmarried of Thomas Piddocke (1864), John Piddocke (1872) and Elizabeth M. Piddocke (1872); recent Chancery litigation between Piddockes and Wight; arrangements for compromise and for the conveyance of the Willesley portion (80 acres) of Oakthorpe to Penelope Helen Piddocke and Green to assure the same by mortgage to Wight to secure £3500, and subject thereto to the use of Elizabeth for life, thence to Green for a term of 1000 years upon trust to raise £3160 maximum for the following 4 individuals, and subject thereto and as specified to the use of Penelope Helen Piddocke, Leonard Thomas Piddocke, Sarah Bourne and Mary Susannah Piddocke as to one quarter share each with various provisos.
DSCAM/4/6/2/22: Copy conveyance (dated 9 Aug. 1873) by Thomas Wight, and Penelope Helen Piddocke, Leonard Thomas Piddocke, George Bourne and Sarah his wife, Mary Susannah Piddocke, Elizabeth Piddocke, the said Elizabeth Piddocke, George and Sarah Bourne and Mary Susannah Piddocke, to Penelope Helen Piddocke and John Matthias Green, of the Willesley portion of the Oakthorpe estate (about 80a.) as outlined in the previous deed; recites previous deeds and Chancery proceedings.
DSCAM/4/6/2/23: Copy draft mortgage (dated 12 Aug. 1873) by Penelope Helen Piddocke and John Matthias Green, and Elizabeth Piddocke, Leonard Thomas Piddocke, George Bourne, Mary Susannah Piddocke and the said Penelope Helen Piddocke, to Thomas Fereday of the parish of Alveley, Salop, Esq. and Thomas Wight, of the Willesley portion of the Oakthorpe estate (83a. 3r. 36p.) and the mines under it held by the Moira Colliery Company, to secure £3500 (of which £2440 is purchase money due to Wight and £1060 is money advanced by him) and interest at 3.375%; power of sale; recites deed of 9 Aug. 1873; schedule of lands.
DSCAM/4/6/2/24-27: Copy transfer (dated 27 Sept. 1876) of the mortgage of 12 Aug. 1873 by Fereday and Wight to John Lee Morley of Ferndale Road, Clapham, Surrey, Esq. and James Amphlett Morton of Kidderminster, gentleman. Copy further charge for £1100 (dated 27 Sept. 1876) to Morley and Morton, making £4600 in total, with interest at 4%. Copy instructions to counsel to advise on title and prepare transfers of mortgages, with opinion of William Pullen of Liverpool (18 Sept. 1876). Memorandum as to the Oakthorpe title, 1876.
DSCAM/4/6/2/28: Copy declaration (dated 8 Nov. 1878) by Walter Canning of Dudley and Birmingham, gentleman, a Solicitor of the Supreme Court, as to the births, marriages and deaths of the Piddocke family; with copy certificates annexed.
DSCAM/4/6/2/29: Copy deed of covenant (dated 31 Dec. 1879) between Elizabeth Piddocke, George Bourne and Sarah his wife, Mary Susannah Piddocke and Penelope Helen Piddocke and John Matthias Green, and John Lee Morley and James Amphlett Morton, whereby Morley and Morton withdraw their notice to pay off the mortgage for £4600 on which interest has been paid irregularly, in return for an increase in the rate of interest from 4% to 5% [with abatements specified].
DSCAM/4/6/2/30: Copy transfer of mortgage (dated 31 Dec. 1884) by James Amphlett Morton (who has survived Morley) to Edward James Morton of Heathfield, parish of Wolverley, Worcestershire, Esq., Frederick William Morton of the same, Esq. and the said James Amphlett Morton.
DSCAM/4/6/2/31: Copy of the will (dated 1 May 1889) of Joseph Boyer of 20 Cromwell Road, West Brighton [Hove], Sussex, Esq.; executors and trustees, Elizabeth Boyer (wife) and John Plummer Boyer and Frank Burton Boyer (sons); £500 to wife; £12600 North Eastern Railway Consolidated Stock and £4000 secured on mortgage of property at Linthorpe upon trust to pay income to wife for life, with free use of 20 Cromwell Road, furniture and effects; all real estate in Yorkshire and elsewhere, inc. Whitwell tithe rentcharge, and the reversion of 20 Cromwell Road, to son Thomas Charge Boyer, he transferring to the exceutors £10000 Great Eastern Railway Stock previously settled; £50 to servants, Charles Lindy, Mrs Purdy and Alice Cornwall; residue of presonal estate, inc. the Great Eastern stock and stock and mortgages settled on wife for life, to sons John Plummer Boyer, Frank Burton Boyer and Charles Edward Pochin Boyer, etc. Codicil (7 May 1889) directing a trust for sale of Cromwell Road and contents after death of wife, proceeds to be divided between 4 sons. Attached letter re Boyer deceased from Messrs Clayton, Sons and Fargus, 16 Lancaster Place, Strand to T. Wight, Dudley, 4 Oct. 1889. [Personal estate sworn at £55485 gross].
