DescriptionDSCAM/4/2/47/1: Agreement (21 Oct. 1816) between John Crockitt and others, trading as the Dibdale Furnace Company, and Samuel Fereday of Sedgley, Staffs., for the purchase of all of Fereday's interest in Dibdale Furnaces, lands and buildings and minerals, for a consideration of £300; statement of account for the purchase.
DSCAM/4/2/47/2: Undertaking (1 Mar. 1817) by John Crockitt to assign to Messrs Hornblower property at Dibdale as security for £400 received from them, to send 30 tons of forge pig iron a week to them, make repayments at £10 a week etc.
DSCAM/4/2/47/3: Assignment (25 Mar. 1817) by John Jones and Joseph Fereday, both of the parish of Dudley, Worcestershire, coalmasters, at the direction of John Crockett of the parish of Sedgley, Staffs., ironmaster, to Serjeant Hornblower and William Hornblower of Brierley Hill, parish of Kingswinford, Staffs, ironmasters, of freehold and copyhold lands, with minerals, at Dibdale, for the residue of a term of 14 years created by the within recited lease of 1815, to secure to them the payment of £400 and interest from Crockett, with covenant for the further assignment of the lease by the Hornblowers to Crockett upon payment; consideration of £700, £300 by Crockett and £400 by the Hornblowers to Jones and Fereday.
DSCAM/4/2/47/4: Agreement (12 Sept. 1818) between Hornblower and Crockitt for the latter to give up all his interest in Dibdale Furnaces etc. as security for £800 borrowed by him from Hornblower, with interest at 7.5%.
DSCAM/4/2/47/5: Draft mortgage of Dibdale Furnaces etc. (1819) by John Crockitt and Edward Crockitt of Dibdale, parish of Sedgley, Staffs., ironmasters and copartners, to Serjeant Hornblower and William Hornblower of Brierley Hill, parish of Kingswinford, Staffs., ironmasters and copartners, to secure therepayment of an unspecified sum at £7 10/- a week; recites previous deeds and the debts of the Crockitts to the Hornblowers
DSCAM/4/2/47/6: Agreement (1820) between William Hornblower of Brierley Hill, parish of Kingswinford, Staffs, ironmster (surviving his late brother, Serjeant Hornblower, deceased) and John Jones and Joseph Fereday, that he will pay the £15 annual surface rent under the 1815 lease of lands and mines at Sedgley; recites 1815 lease from Attwood to Jones and Fereday and assignment #3.
DSCAM/4/2/47/7-8: Notice to quit from Edward Dixon to William Hornblower, Cradley (12 Oct. 1820); declaration in ejectment in Doe dem Dixon v Roe, with notice to Hornblower to defend the action, 15 Jan. 1821.
DSCAM/4/2/47/9-12: Handbills advertising sales of Dibdale Furnaces and plant by order of the assignees of John and Edward Crockitt, bankrupts (Mar.-Apr. 1820); copy valuation of Dibdale furnaces etc.;
DSCAM/4/2/47/13: Rough memorandum on the history of Dibdale Furnaces , bankruptcy of Thomas Vernon in 1806, onward sale to Samuel Fereday and Dudley Bagley to 1808 thence to Fereday, Joseph Fereday, John Crockitt etc. in 1813 after Bagley's bankruptcy [see DSCAM/5/2 series] and of the Fereday interest to Crockitt in 1816.
DSCAM/4/2/47/14-40: Correspondence (28 July 1817-21 Aug. 1820 and n.d.) mainly from William Hornblower, Brierley Hill etc. to Mr Fellows, solicitor, Dudley.
DSCAM/4/2/47/41: Agreement for lease from William Hughes and William Bunch to Messrs Hornblower and Smith; endorsed abstract of deed of 23 Mar. 1716 relating to site of Coseley meeting house and school.
DSCAM/4/2/47/42: Memorandum of meeting at Bourne's office after Hornblower had taken possession of Dibdale in Feb. 1819.
