DSCAM/3/79/2: Release (21 Dec. 1853) by William Coldicott of Dudley, Worcs., gentleman, and the other creditors, legatees (George Deeley Chavasse of Dudley, bookkeeper, Henry Fullwood of the parish of Sedgley, bookkeeper and Ann Elizabeth his wife, Hannah Maria Chavasse, spinster, Joseph Henry Chavasse, bookkeeper, Samuel Chavasse, bookkeeper, Horace Chavasse, bookkeeper, all of Dudley, Louisa Matilda Chavasse of Lea Brook, parish of Tipton, spinster, Emily Chavasse of Dudley, spinster, and Arthur Benjamin Chavasse of Coseley, parish of Sedgley), of the executors (William Coldicott and Samuel Chavasse of Kingswinford, Staffs., coal master) of Joseph Stokes Chavasse, late of Woodsetton, parish of Sedgley, coal master, upon the payment of a composition of 2s 6d in the £, £85 11s 5d to each of the legatees, and £500 retained by Coldicott; recites debts of the deceased to Coldicott, rent arrears at Clay Croft Colliery held under lease from the trustees of the will of the Earl of Dudley and arrangements 'having regard to the long and faithful service of the said Joseph ... in the employ of the late Earl of Dudley...' for the continued working of the colliery etc.
