DescriptionDSCAM/3/72/1: Probate (22 May 1812) of the will (dated 6 Nov. 1810) of Joseph Cartwright, Vicar of Dudley.
Recites appointment of 29 Oct. 1810 of a capital messuage and premises in High Street, Dudley and exercises powers under it; appoints the premises, from the death of his wife, Mary Cartwright, to his son, Cornelius Cartwright, he paying the executors its valuation; dwellinghouse adjoining it to wife for life, thence to Cornelius at valuation; if Cornelius declines to take them, then appoints them to Henry Antrobus Cartwright, Cornelius Cartwright, Penelope Antrobus Brettell, wife of Thomas Bretteell, Eliza Cartwright, Mary Ann Cartwright (children) and William Henry Cartwright (only child of late son William Perry Cartwright) as tenants in common; all other estate upon trust for wife during widowhood, then real estate upon trust for his children and grandchild and their issue as tenants in common as specified, with ultimate remainder to his own right heirs, and personal estate to be divided between them as tenants in common; arrangements for share of grandson if a minor.
Executrices and guardians of infant children: wife, until remarriage (when sons below are substituted for her) and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Perry.
Codicil (dated 25 July 1811); adds sons the Revd Henry Antrobus Cartwright and Cornelius Cartwright, surgeon, as executors and trustees.
