DSCAM/3/344/2: Attested copy of the will (dated 12 Oct. 1770) of William Read the elder of Oldbury, Salop, bricklayer; 6 messuages, land and appurtenances in Oldbury, to wife, Elizabeth Read, for life; then his own one to son Henry Read, charged with £30 to testator's daughter Elizabeth and £10 to grandson, William Read; that occupied by son William, to son William; one to daughter, Mary Boslins; one to daughter, Martha Hadley; one to son Joseph; and last to daughter Elizabeth; gardens and lands partitioned; household effects to wife for life, then divided between children, etc. ; executor, Henry Read (son). Examined, 16 Mar. 1772. |
DSCAM/3/344/3: Attested copy of the will (dated 14 Nov. 1808) of William Read of Harborne, gentleman; 2 messuages in Oldbury to wife for life; then one to brother Joseph Read, and the other to brother Henry Read; £5 to sister, Elizabeth Baker; part of household effects to wife for life; residue upon trust to pay income to wife for life, thence to be divided between 2 brothers and sister ; executors, Samuel Newey the younger, wheelwright and John Tibbitts, butcher, both of Harborne; codicil (dated 2 June 1812), following death of wife, revoking Newey's appointment and substituting Joseph Read and nephew Thomas Baker, increasing Elizabeth Baker's legacy to £10, giving Thomas Baker £10, niece Elizabeth Baker £20, £5 each to nephews William and Joseph Read (sons of Joseph), and making bequests to various of them and to Hannah, wife of Joseph Read the brother. Copy examined, 12 Sept. 1827. |
