Description | DSCAM/3/29/1-2: Office copy of the will (dated 5 Sept. 1809) of Joshua Beddard of the Straits in the parish of Sedgley, Staffs., gentleman; farming stock, household effects etc. to wife, Rachael Beddard, for life; thence to sons, James, John and Thomas Beddard; executors, Joseph Beddard of the parish of Kingswinford, Staffs., bricklayer (cousin) and Joseph Fletcher of the parish of Sedgley, baker. Codicil (dated 9 Apr. 1811); a dwellinghouse at Kingswinford in the possession of Edward Barnet to brother, Thomas Beddard; all other real estate to wife, thence to sons as tenants in common. Attached bill of costs and receipt, 13 Aug. 1813. |
DSCAM/3/29/3: Surrender by Joshua Beddard of the Straits, bricklayer and Paul Jevon of Lower Gornal, bagging weaver and Mary his wife, of land and 5 dwellinghouses at Nether Gornal (abuttals and occupiers given), already conditionally surrendered to Beddard in 1806 to the uses specified), to the use of Beddard for life, then to Rachel, his wife, for life, thence to the uses of his will etc., and in default to the uses (in thirds) of his sons, James Beddard, John Beddard and Thomas Beddard; consideration of £550 to Jevon (including £400 due on mortgage); 1 May 1810. DSCAM/3/29/5: Admittance of John Beddard of the Straights, farmer (eldest son and customary heir of Joshua and edlest brother and customary heir of James Beddard of the Straights, yeoman, deceased), to two thirds of land and 5 messuages [now 9] at Nether Gornal; surrender by John Beddard and Elizabeth his wife to Thomas Beddard of Lower Gornal of their two thirds of the property, in return for a surrender by Thomas of other base copyholds; admittance of Thomas to the two thirds; admittance of Thomas as the other surviving son of Joshua to his own one third share in the same; conditional surrender by Thomas Beddard and Mary his wife of the 9 messuages to James Bourne the younger of Dudley, Worcs., gentleman, to secure £150 and interest by way of mortgage; and admittance of Bourne; 20 Oct. 1828.
