DescriptionDSCAM/3/270/1: Probate (13 Apr. 1875) of the will (dated 1 Aug. 1872) of Christopher Lucas of Dixon's Green, parish of Dudley, Worcs., out of business; all real estate and household effects to wife for life; thence the Dun Cow public house (occupied by William Hart Thomas) upon trust for sale, to repay the £160 mortgage on testator's real estate, and pay balance to son, Charles Lucas, if then living, but otherwise to testator's daughters, Elizabeth, wife of Thomas Davies, Adelaide Mary, wife of William Hart Thomas, Catherine Jane, wife of Joseph Lavender, and Sarah Ann, wife of Job Harrison; house 27 at Dixon's Green, to daughter Sarah Ann for life, thence to her issue, with remainder in default of issue to his other 3 daughters and their issue (equally per stirpes); house 28 to daughter Adelaide Mary for life, thence to her issue, with smiliar remainder; house 29 in Pitfield Street, Kates Hill, Dudley, to daughter Elizabeth for life, thence to her issue, with similar remainder; and house 30 in Pitfield Street, to daughter Catherine Jane for life, thence to her issue, with similar remainder; executors, William Hart Thomas and Job Harrison (sons-in-law) and Mary Lucas (wife).
DSCAM/3/270/2: Release (7 Jan. 1876) by Richard Wilcox and Philip Wilcox of Kingswinford, Staffs., gentlemen, to William Hart Thomas of Dixon's Green, parish of Dudley, Worcs., labourer and Job Harrison of Pitfield Street, Kate's Hill, parish of Dudley, miner, with theapprobation of Mary Wilcox of Stourbridge, Worcs., widow and Charles Lucas of 4 Pear Tree Yard, Woodside Lane, Sheffield, West Riding of Yorkshire, spring fitter etc., of premises #27-30 in the above will from the mortgage for £160 (which remains charged on the Dun Cow Inn), to the uses of the will respecting them; recites previous deeds and will of Lucas, death of Mary Lucas etc.
