DSCAM/3/201/2: Probate (16 Sept. 1801) of the will (dated 18 Dec. 1799) of Sarah Pitt of the parish of Kingswinford, Staffs. wife of William Pitt; exercises powers under the 1780 settlement; £40 annuity to husband, but void if he challenges the settlement; £40 to sister, Mary Horton; £10 to nephew John Horton; £5 to Catherine Silvers; £40 to niece Sarah, wife of John Smith; residue, inc. real estate at Dudley and Brierley Hill, upon trust to pay income to sisters, Mary Horton, widow, Elizabeth, wife of Henry Barnsley and Ann Bissell, widow, equally, then upon trust for sale/realisation with proceeds divided into three shares for the issue of the 3 sisters: Richard Horton, Sarah, wife of Joseph Albutt, Mary, wife of Thomas Baker, John Horton and Elizabeth, wife of James Wilkes; Mary Wheeler (daughter of Elizabeth Barnsley); and Sarah, wife of John Smith of Birmingham, plater, Mary Bissell, Benjamin Bissell, James Bissell and Deborah Bissell; debt of £250 from sister Bissell to be deducted from the share passing to that line; executors, who receive £20 each, Zachariah Parkes and Joseph Parkes. |
DSCAM/3/201/3: Assignment (29 Oct. 1802) by Mary Horton of Dudley, Worcs., widow, and Joseph Allbutt of the parish of Kingswinford, farmer and Sarah, his wife, to Zachariah Parkes of Holly Hall, parish of Dudley, ironmaster, of their interest under Sarah Pitt's will, to indemnify him for acting as surety in a promissory note for £200 payable to James Amphlett Grove, and subject thereto and the payment of his costs, in trust for Horton and Mrs Allbutt. |
