DSCAM/3/172/2: Lease and release and appointment (18-19 Nov. 1818) by John Simkiss of Netherton, miner, to Ann Grainger of Netherton, widow, of the equity of redemption of land at Netherton formerly belonging to Benjamin Hughes, adjoining the Halesowen turnpike, and 3 messuages built by Simkiss on the plot, and a blacksmith's shop adjoining one of them, all subject to mortgages of £250 to Isaac Hughes, which are to be repaid by the purchaser; consideration of £350, of which £100 is to Simkiss.
DSCAM/3/172/3: Transfer of mortgage (1849), by the Revd William Hughes of Aston Botterill, Salop, Clerk, Thomas Hughes of Dudley, Worcs., late a draper now a wine merchant, and Alexander Brodie Cochrane of the parish of Kingswinford, Staffs., coalmaster, at the direction of Joseph Simkiss of Birchhills, parish of Walsall, Staffs., innkeeper and Mary Ann his wife, to Isaac Fisher of Gornal Wood, parish of Sedgley, Staffs., miner, and of the mortgages property to William Coldicott of Dudley, gentleman, in trust for Fisher; with further borrowing by Fisher on, and quit claim of her rights of dower by his wife; to secure £350 and interest; recites previous Hughes-Simkiss deeds; premises are now 4 messuages, one the 'Druid Tavern'. Unexecuted.
