DescriptionDSCAM/3/116/1: Probate (16 Nov. 1830) of the will (dated 23 June 1829) of Jonah Davies the elder of Toll End, Tipton, Staffs., steam engine manufacturer and iron founder; household effects to wife, Ann Davies, for life; premises at Toll End, including steam engine manufactory, iron foundry etc. and all stock, tools and book debts, upon trust for sale, with first option to purchase given to testator's sons, singly or in combination, at valuation; proceeds, with those of all personal estate, inc. household effects after wife's death; proceeds to be invested to produce an annuity of £150 for wife for life, and subject thereto to be divided between testator's children, Jonah Davies, George Davies, William Henry Davies, John Davies, James Davies, Charles Edwin Davies, Eliza Maria Davies, Sarah Charlotte Davies and Caroline Amelia Davies, in equal tenth parts at the age of 21 etc., George taking two having married Jane Bate, spinster, daughter of Ann Davies by James Bate, her first husband, which Jane would otherwise herself have received a share; provisions for minorities, advancement of portions, etc.; executors, Thomas Underhill of Tipton, surgeon, and Ann Davies (wife).
