Description | DSCAM/3/103/1: Copy deed of partition (29 Mar. 1827) between 8 of the children of Joseph Cox of Dudley, Worcs., nail ironmonger, deceased (William Collins Cox formerly of Liverpool, Lancashire but now of Pernambucco in South America, merchant, Joseph Cox of Dudley, nail ironmonger, Thomas Cox of the same, nail ironmonger, John Cox of the same, merchant, Charles Cox of Newcastle under Line, Staffs., brewer, Henry Cox of Dudley, brewer, Edward Cox of Worcester, chemist and druggist and Charlotte Cox of Dudley, spinster) and Charlotte Cox of Dudley, widow, in respect of the personal estate of Joseph Cox.; recites that Cox died 1825 leaving will of 1800; subsequent doubts over validity of later 'instructions'; details of estate etc. £150 annuity to be secured to the widow paid equally by the 10 children (of whom Eliza and Louisa Cox are minors); the personal estate of £9600 to be divided between children; release and quit claim by the 8 children for the £960 paid by the widow to each of them; arrangements for maintenance and education of the youngest 2 children, and for them to receive at 21 their shares in the £9600 in return for assuming their proportionate liability for the annuity of £150; provisions if they die under the age of 21 etc. |
DSCAM/3/103/2: Copy of the will (dated 4 Sept. 1844) of Joseph Cox of Dudley, nail ironmonger; all household effects to wife, Sarah Cox, plus £100; £50 to each executor; all other estate upon trust for sale, with income of proceeds to be paid to wife for life; £100 to brother Charles Cox if living; £200 for Mary Ann Cox, daughter of late brother Thomas Cox, at 21, with power to anticipate; and balance of trust funds to testator's brothers and sisters living at the time of his wife's death, except Charles, equally; arrangements for continuing and disposing of partnerships; executors, Edward Cox of Handsworth, Staffs., merchant and Henry Money Wainwright of Dudley, gentleman.
Codicil (dated 19 May 1845); part of household effects to wife for life, rest to sisters Eliza Cox and Louisa Cox as tenants in common, as also the sum of £100; trustees to pay £100 p.a. to wife for life and balance of income to his brothers and sisters, except Charles; revision of trusts regardin payment of £200 to niece; executors may divide residue of funds not needed to support the annuity etc. without waiting for death of wife. |
