Description | Counterpart lease (1 Nov. 1837) by Richard Blakemore of the Leys, Herefordshire, Esq., John Tomlinson of the City of Bristol, Esq. and Mary his wife, Thomas William Booker of Velindra House, Glamorganshire, ironmaster, James Wellington of the City of Bristol, gentleman and Harriet Esther his wife, George Robbins, serving in the Spanish Legion, John Bagnall of Westbromwich, Staffs., ironmaster and Mary Ann his wife, and George Spry of the City of Bath and Ellen Esther his wife, to Joshua Horton of Handsworth, Staffs., boiler maker and Alexander Brodie Cochrane of Blowers Green, near Dudley, Worcs., coal master, of the mines of thick or 10 yard coal under the Littleton Hall estate, parish of Westbromwich, Staffs., for a term of 39 years from 25 Mar. 1837, determinable when exhausted; royalty of 20% of sale price of coals, with minimum quarterly payments of £200 for the first 4 years, then £350 a quarter, plus 1s 6d per 1000 bricks and tiles etc. |

Collateral mortgage (22 Nov. 1842) by Joshua Horton of Handsworth, Staffs., boiler maker, to William Chinner of Woodhouse, Staffs., gentleman, being an assignment of leasehold minerals at Littleton Hall for the residue of the term of 39 years, less the last 3 days; recites #6 and the assignment of Alexander Brodie Cochrane's share to Horton, and the advance of £4000 by Chinner to Horton secured, in the first instance, on property in Handsworth. |
