DSCAM/2/1/7/4-6: Mortgage (25 Jan. 1745/6) by demise of 1000 years by Humphrey Bennett of the parish of Dudley, whitesmith and Mary his wife (only daughter and heiress of Samuel Roberts of Dudley, mason and Katherine his wife), to Thomas Sylvester of Birmingham, Warwickshire, shopkeeper and John Denny of the same, aulblademaker (executors of William Luccock of the same, aulblademaker), of 3 dwellinghousee etc. [the premises in #2], to secure £29 14/- and interest; covenant to levy a Fine. Bond of Bennett to Sylvester and Denny, to perform covenants. Final Concord (Easter Term 19 George II = 1746) between Thomas Silvester (Plaintiff) and John Jennings and Sarah his wife and Humphrey Bennett and Mary his wife (Deforciants).
DSCAM/2/1/7/7-9: Lease and release (24-25 Nov. 1758) by Bennett and wife and Mary Bennett the younger, spinster, their only child, to Joseph Johnson of Dudley, baker, of 4 dwellinghouses etc. [the premises in #2], covenant to levy a Fine; consideration of £77, plus £8 to the mortgagee. Assignment of the mortgage term (25 Nov. 1758) by Sylvester (surviving executor), at the direction of the Bennetts, to Joseph Johnson and William Johnson of Dudley, nailor, in trust for Joseph Johnson, and otherwise upon trust to attend the freehold; consideration of £8. Final Concord (Michaelmas Term 32 George II = 1758) between Johnson (Plaintiff) and Bennett and wife and Miss Bennett (Deforciants).
DSCAM/2/1/7/10: Bargain and sale and enfeoffment (7 Apr. 1766) by William Johnson the elder of Dudley, nailer, to Joseph Johnson of Dudley, baker (his son), of 13 x 12ft of land and the lower end of a garden, and a nailshop, all in or near Hall Lane, Dudley (abuttals given), paying a rent of 12d each week to William for life; livery of seisin endorsed.
DSCAM/2/1/7/11: Pre-nuptial settlement (14-15 Oct. 1766) of Joseph Johnson and Mary Homer of Dudley, widow (of John Homer of Dudley, surgeon barber); lease and release to James Shaw of Dudley, gentleman and William James of the same, cabinet maker, of a newly erected dwellinghouse etc., built on part of a garden purchased from Bennet and wife in Hall Lane, Dudley, to the use of Johnson for life, then to Mary for life for her jointure, thence to the right heirs of Joseph; and assignment by Mary of her contingent interest in jewellery and plate etc. (specified) under the will of her late daughter, Mary Harnage of Belswardine, Salop, widow, upon trust for her, with power to bequeath part by will, part to go to her legal representatives after death, and the rest to go to Joseph and his heirs; consideration of £200 money, £50 goods and freehold and copyhold properties in the parish of Sedgley, Staffs. as the marriage portion
DSCAM/2/1/7/12-13: Mortgage (15 Feb. 1769) by demise of 1000 years by Joseph Johnson to William Harrison of Netherton, parish of Dudley, victualler, of 4 dwellinghouses (1 on the former site of the pigsty) standing together in Hall Lane, a dwellinghouse formerly in the possession of William Johnson deceased and 2 others adjoining, also all together in Hall Lane, to secure £100 and interest. And bond from same to same as collateral security.
DSCAM/2/1/7/14-16: Assignment of the above mortgage (9 Mar. 1776) by William Harrison, with the consent of Joseph Johnson, to Daniel Wright of the parish of Tipton alias Tibbington, Staffs., yeoman, with further borrowing, and mortgage by demise of 2000 years by Johnson and Mary his wife to Wright of the recently erected dwellinghouse in Hall Lane settled by #11, to secure a total of £250 and interest; covenant to levy a Fine of the last mentioned premises; consideration of £104 to Harrison and £146 to Johnson. And 2 parts of a Final Concord (Easter Term 16 George III = 1776) between Wright (Plaintiff) and Johnson and wife (Deforciants)
DSCAM/2/1/7/17: Pre-nuptial settlement (30 Apr.-1 May 1779) of Joseph Johnson and Rebecca Freeth of the Brades in the parish of Rowley Regis, Staffs., spinster; lease and release to Daniel Wright, gentleman and John Wright of Oldbury, parish of Halesowen, Salop, maltster, of the (now) 8 dwellinghouses in Hall Lane, to the use of Johnson for life, then to Rebecca for life, thence to their children as tenants in common, and in default of issue to raise £300 to be payable to Rebecca or as she shall appoint, and subject thereto and to the £250 mortgage, to Joseph and his heirs and assigns; consideration of £300 marriage portion.
DSCAM/2/1/7/18-20: Lease and release (23-24 Mar. 1781) by Edward Harper of Gospel End, parish of Sedgley, Staffs., gentleman (eldest son and heir of Jevon Dunton Harper, eldest son and heir of Jevon Harper by Susannah his wife, daughter and heiress of Edward Dunton of Dudley, locksmith; and nephew and heir-at-law of Susannah, wife of Jonathan Homer of Dudley, maltster, who was sister to Jevon Dunton Harper) and Elizabeth his wife, to Edward Davis of Dudley, ironmonger, of 2 messuages and land called Coxes Croft (late Reeves's Croft), in Hall Lane, Dudley; covenant to levy a Fine; covenants to procure the assignment of a term of 500 years by Joseph Dixon to the use of Davis etc.; consideration of £310 10/-. Lease and release by way of mortgage (26-27 Mar. 1781) by Davis to Harper, to secure £300 and interest. Final Concord (Hilary Term 22 George III = 1782) between Davis (Plaintiff) and Harper and wife (Deforciants).
DSCAM/2/1/7/21: Further mortgage (21 July 1783) by Davis to Harper, to secure £100 on the premises as in #19, on which various messauges, warehouses, shops and stables have been erected.
DSCAM/2/1/7/22: Bond (9 Mar. 1793) from Joseph Johnson to Daniel Wright to secure £50, and charging same additionally on the premises subject to the mortgage of 9 Mar. 1776.
DSCAM/2/1/7/23: Lease and release (23-24 June 1794) by Johnson and Eleanor Freeth of Dudley, spinster (his sister-in-law), to Edward Davies of Dudley, nail ironmonger, of premises in Hall Lane as in #17, subject to mortgage debt of £300 which Davies will discharge, and in consideration of £100, and a bond from Davies in £500 to secure an annuity of £65 2/- to Johnson for life, thence one of £31 10/- to Eleanor for life; recites previous deeds.
DSCAM/2/1/7/24: Lease and release (6-7 May 1796) by Joseph Wainwright of Dudley, surgeon, Dudley Bagley of the same, gentleman, Thomas Newton of Sedgley, Staffs., gentleman and Elizabeth Newton of Gospel End, spinster (executors and devisees in trust and executrix and residuary legatee of Edward Harper), to Edward Davies, being a reconveyance of the mortgage premises as in #19; consideration of £327 10/- to repay the mortgage.
DSCAM/2/1/7/25: Assignment (10 July 1809) by Daniel Wright of the parish of Tipton alias Tibbington, Staffs., yeoman, at the direction of John Davies, Edward Davies and Thomas Davies, all of Dudley, nail ironmongers, to Zephaniah Parkes of the parish of Dudley, ironmonger, of the mortgage for a total of £300 and the residue of the terms of 1000 and 2000 years securing it, in trust for Messrs Davies as tenants in common, and otherwise upon trust to attend the freehold.
