DSCAM/2/1/16/2: Lease and release (4-5 May 1710) by John Shaw of the parish of Dudley, nailer, to Job Gad alias Jones of the same parish, nailer and Ann his wife, and John his son, of a moiety of a cottage and garden in the parish of Dudley and of meadow called Squires Meadow in the parishes of Dudley and Rowley Regis, to Job and Ann for life, thence to John Gad alias Jones.
DSCAM/2/1/16/3: Attested copy mortgage (dated 5 July 1810) by demise of 1000 years, by Thomas Cooksey of the parish of Dudley, victualler (only son and heir of Joseph Cooksey and grandson and heir of Elizabeth Cooksey nee Gad [or Shaw]), to James Bourne of Dudley, gentleman, of the upper part (2 acres) of Squires Meadow near Withymore Mill, parish of Dudley, to secure £100 and interest.
DSCAM/2/1/16/4: Deed of partition (26 Dec. 1810) of the freehold and personal estates of the late Thomas Cooksey; bargain and sale and enfeoffment by Joseph Cooksey of the parish of Dudley, farmer (eldest son and heir-at-law and a devisee of Thomas Cooksey the elder of Dudler, victualler and farmer), Thomas Cooksey of the parish of Dudley, victualler and farmer (another son and devisee), James Whitehouse of the parish of Dudley, farmer and Sarah his wife (a daughter and devisee), Benjamin Tilley of the parish of Dudley, labourer and Sylvia his wife (a daughter and devisee), Joseph Smart the elder of the parish of Dudley, labourer and Joseph Smart and Anna Maria Smart (children of Smart the elder and grandchildren of Cooksey the elder), to James Dunn of the parish of Dudley, nailer,to the use of the other parties to effect the division; namely, Squire's Meadow (2a.) with a dwellinghouse and nailshop, near Withymore Mill, parish of Dudley, except minerals (sold) and subject to a lease, 2 messuages (occupied by Joseph Smart and Benjamin Tilley), and an inclosure of land under the Dudley Wood inclosure, to the use of Joseph Cooksey, with power of appointment etc.; an inclosure of land near Bumble Hole Lane and the Fox and Goose public house at Bumble Hole, parish of Dudley, to the use of Thomas Cooksey, with power of appointment; 1 further messuage at Bumble Hole, subject to a mortgage, to the use of Whitehouse and wife, with power of appointment, and otherwise to the Whitehouse for life and their issue as tenants in common etc.; another messuage there, subject to a mortgage, to the use of Tilley and wife etc., etc.; and another messuage and a small parcel of land there, to the use of the younger Smarts as tenants in common, with remainder to the other parties should the Samrts die under age without issue etc.; all the leasehold messuages of Cooksey deceased in the parish of Dudley, and personal estate, to the use of Thomas, except £250 purchase money for the minerals (sold as above), to Joseph; consideration of £100, £50 and £50 by Joseph Cooksey to Thomas Cooksey, James Whitehouse and Benjamin Tilly to adjust their shares ; livery of seisin endorsed.
DSCAM/2/1/16/5-7: Short abstract of title of Thomas Cooksey to part of Squire's Meadow at Bumble Hole, parish of Dudley, from 1746 to 1817; abstract of Thomas Cooksey's title to another part, described as at Withymore in the parishes of Dudley and Rowley Regis, from 1754 to 1782; and abstract of title of John Sidaway to a moiety of Squire's Meadow, parishes of Dudley and Rowley Regis, from 1701 to 1808.
DSCAM/2/1/16/8: Copy of the will (dated 12 Oct. 1811) of John Sidaway of the parish of Dudley, jews harp stock maker; all to wife Ann during widowhood, then 2 messuages (one lately used as a cow house) near Bumble Hole, parish of Dudley, to son, James Sidaway; messuage at Windmill End, parish of Dudley, to son, Absalom Sidaway; another messuage at Windmill End to son, Jacob Sidaway; a further messuage there to daughter Mary, wife of William Hunter; and yet another to daughter Ruth, wife of Joseph Burton; land in Squires Meadow near Withymore Mill, parishes of Dudley and Rowley Regis. to his three sons as tenants in common; other children each to pay James £5 for repairs to property devised to him; all other estate to testator's children equally; executors, Joseph Cooksey of the parish of Rowley Regis, farmer and Joseph Hadley of Bumble Hole, nailer. And codicil (dated 13 Sept. 1817); Squires Meadow now to all children as tenants in common; revokes appointment of Cooksey and substitutes Thomas Sidaway of Reddall Hill, parish of Rowley Regis, nail ironmonger.
DSCAM/2/1/16/9: Lease and release (10-11 Aug. 1838) by way of mortgage, by Jacob Sidaway of Windmill End, parish of Rowley Regis, miner and Elizabeth his wife, to Joseph Pitchforke of Dudley, schoolmaster, of a messuage near Windmill End, parish of Rowley Regis and 1r. 21p. of land at Squires Meadow, parishes of Dudley and Rowley Regis, and 4 messuages recently erected or in the course of erection thereupon, to secure £300 and interest; recites will of John Sidaway etc.; plan endorsed. Fire insurance policy, Sidaway and Pitchforke, 3 July 1838.
