DSCAM/2/1/14/2: Bargain and sale and enfeoffment (20 June 1789) of the premises (newly erected messuage and garden etc.) by Fisher and Roades to Samuel Short of Dudley, coal bailiff and Joseph Nicklin of the parish of Tipton, gentleman (his trustee to uses to bar dower), to the use of Short as specified; livery of seisin endorsed.
DSCAM/2/1/14/3: Mortgage by demise of 1000 years (26 Oct. 1797) by Short of Great Bridge, Staffs., maltster and Nicklin of Tipton, carpenter, to Joseph Moss of Dudley, surgeon, of the messuage in King Street, and 7 messuages behind it, to secure £200 and interest.
DSCAM/2/1/14/4-5: Assignment of the mortgage (25 Dec. 1801) by Moss, by the direction of Short, to Joseph Lambert of Amblecoat, parish of Oldswinford, Staffs., yeoman, with further borrowing of £30 by Short. And enclosed promissory note for £230 at 6 months from Short to Lambert.
DSCAM/2/1/14/6: Office copy of the will (dated 9 Dec. 1804) of Samuel Short of the parish of Westbromwich, Staffs., maltster; 3 messuages, malthouse etc. at Great Bridge, 6 messuages at Darlaston, Staffs., piece of land at Heathfield, parish of Darlaston, 8 messuages in Dudley (most tenants named), to wife Phoebe for life, thence to children Samuel, Elizabeth, William, Nancy, Scott Seana and Thomas as tenants in common; leasehold messuage with the mill in the parish of Tipton, and household effects, stock in trade and personal estate similarly bequeathed; executors, Thomas Tibbitts of Wednesbury, Staffs., butcher and Samuel Kendrick of the same, blacksmith, and wife.
DSCAM/2/1/14/7-8: Lease and release (16 June 1809) by Samuel Short of the parish of St Ann, Middlesex, harness maker (eldest son of Samuel), Edward Slater of Wednesbury, Staffs., gunlock forger and Elizabeth his wife (nee Short), William Short of Birmingham, Warwickshire, harness maker, and Nancy Short, late of Wednesbury, now of the parish of St Ann, spinster, and Joseph Nicklin (a trustee for Samuel Short deceased), of four sixth shares in the foregoing premises, to James Hunt of Surrey Street, Strand, Middlesex, gentleman to make Hunt Tenant to the Praecipe for suffering a Common Recovery in which Richard Parkes of Wednesbury, yeoman shall be Demandant, to the use of James Bottely the elder of Dudley, gentlemen and James Bottely the younger of the parish of Sedgley, Staffs., miner, in trust for Bottely the elder and his heirs; assignment of the mortgage term by Joseph Lambert, now of Stourbridge, Worcs., yeoman, to Thomas Roberts of Dudley, saddler, in trust for Bottely the elder and otherwise upon trust to attend the freehold, as to four sixth shares, and, as to two sixths, in trust to secure to Bottely the elder the sum of £30, being two sixths of £90, until the conveyance to him by the other Short heirs (both minors) of their two sixths of the freehold, and then in trust for Bottely the elder as above; consideration of £90 to Lambert to repay mortgage, £310 divided between the named Short heirs and £155 to be paid to Scott Seana Short and Thomas Short on their majorities, by Bottely the elder. And exemplification of the Common Recovery (Trinity Term 49 George III).
DSCAM/2/1/14/9: Copy of letters of administration (dated 30 Dec. 1815) of Thomas Roberts of Dudley, collar maker, granted to his widow, Jane Roberts.
DSCAM/2/1/14/10: Conveyance (20 June 1817) by Scott Senea Short of Wednesbury, Staffs., spinster and Thomas Short of Oxford Street, London, saddler, of their two sixth shares in the premises, and covenant to levy a Fine by them and Samuel Short, Edward Slater and wife, William Short, now of Sheffield, Yorks. and Ann his wife, to Richard Parkes of Wednesbury, shopkeeper, to the use of James Bottely the elder, late of Gornal in the parish of Sedgley, now of Dudley, gentleman and James Bottely the younger, now of the parish of Tipton, miner (his trustee to uses), as specified; consideration of £155 and acknowledgment in respect of £30 of the mortgage money.
DSCAM/2/1/14/11: Copy of the will (dated 21 Nov. 1823) of James Botteley of Dudley, yeoman; messuage in Prospect Row, Dudley, and the King Street property (inc. the 7 messuages behind, now described as Brandy Row) to wife, Ann Botteley, for life, thence to sons Thomas and James the younger as tenants in common; household effects to wife, then to sons; £100 to daughter Sarah Corfield, wife of William Corfield of the parish of Hopton Wafers, Salop, farmer; £100 to daughter Jane Roberts, widow; £50 to Fanny Botteley, daughter of late son John; £50 to Abigail Jones, daughter of late daughter Margaret Cartwright; £100 invested to pay income to Jane Roberts, then capital to her children, Thomas (£40) and Mary (£60) when they reach full age, and otherwise to their personal representatives etc.; sons are executors.

DSCAM/2/1/14/13: Statutory release (18 Dec. 1841) by Thomas Botteley of the parish of Westbromwich, Staffs., coalmaster, (in whom the legal estate is vested on account of deficiencies in the will of James Botteley the younger), Archibald Horn of Great Queen Street, London, coach founder and William Henry Bates of Birmingham, Warwickshire, merchant (surviving trustees of #12, in respect of a moiety of the premises), and William Briscoe Lilly of Edgbaston, Warwickshire, plater and Eliza his wife (in respect of a moiety), to William Reeves of Birmingham, wheelwright, of the messuage in King Street and 6 (formerly 7 behind it), to such uses as Lilly shall appoint, and otherwise to the use of Lilly and his heirs, as specified; consideration of £180 by Lilly to the trustees; recites previous deeds and wills; attached certificate of acknowledgment by a married woman.
DSCAM/2/1/14/14-15: Mortgage by appointment and grant (12 Feb. 1842) by Lilly to Ralph Musselwhite of Dudley, draper and Richard Badger of Stourbridge, Worcs., currier (trustees of the marriage settlement of Thori Barri Smith and Jane Badger), of the King Street property, and a messuage at Hill Top, parish of Westbromwich, Staffs., to secure £400 and interest; vacating receipt, 13 Aug. 1850. And assignment by Jane Roberts of Dudley, widow, by the direction of Lilly, Musselwhite and Badger, to John Bolton of Dudley, solicitor, of the residue of a term of 1000 years in the King Street premises, in trust for Musselwhite and Badger, as additional security, and otherwise in trust for Lilly and upon trust to attend the freehold.
