DescriptionArthur Clarkson Rose was born in Dudley on the 8th December 1890 and attended Dudley Grammar School. From an early age it was clear that Rose wished to work as a professional entertainer.

In 1918 he met fellow performer Olivia Fox who became his long term partner. Together "Clarkie" and Fox presented their own show "Twinkle" for the first time on Ryde Pier in 1921. The show ran for 45 years, during later years it was mainly being performed in the summer to allow Rose to work as a pantomime Dame during the winter season.

Rose was a nationally renowned pantomime Dame having appeared as a Dame at the 1935 Royal Command Performance and having been the Dame for the Melville Brothers at the Lyceum between 1936 and 1938.

Rose's last pantomime was at Leicester in 1967 and he passed away in April 1968.
