TitleDescription books (pattern books) produced by Stevens & Williams Ltd. (Brierley Hill Glass Works). Microfilm reel copies only.
DescriptionThese microfilm copies were produced by Corning Glass Museum, New York for Stevens & Williams Ltd. They are called 'description books' because the early books up to about the 1860s, contained a detailed written description of every article, often without a drawing. Royal Brierley Crystal Ltd (Stevens and Williams) was sold to Epsom Glass Industries (Richard Katz) in 1998 and the original leather bound description books were included in the sale and therefore became the property of Epsom Glass Industries. These were later transferred to Dudley MBC and currently reside with Dudley Museum at Himley Hall (these are not available to view- being conserved/bound). Dudley Archives does not own the copyright to these volumes and the microfilms are to be used for research purposes only.
