TitleHundred Court Roll for Dudley [incomplete]
DescriptionLists essoins, distrains and amercements (with amounts and totals for each court). Each court was held on Mondays: extant entries survive for courts held on 29 Dec 1348 and 19 Jan 1349 (22 Edw. III) and 9 Feb 1349 and 2 Mar 1349 (23 Edw. III).

Endorsed: '19/36'

Note: Hundred Courts were held once a month.

Note on date: Edward III was the only monarch of the medieval/early modern period to begin his reign in January and reign for at least 23 years - it can therefore be safely assumed that the roll refers to his reign.
Date[Dec 1348 - Mar 1349]

The document is not related to the Hundred or 'Ragman' Rolls initiated by Edward I in 1274 - 1275 but is rather a Court Roll for the Hundred of Dudley); see also Notes and illustrations from the collection of J.S. Roper, Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Archive Service, William Salt Library, ref. 327/32/81, which was transcribed by A. G. Oldaker of Esher, Surrey (n.d.) and 327/131/81 for notes on the Dudley Hundred Roll]
