Description | Recites Charter [Letters Patent] 13 Jun 1567 [9 Eliz. I] addressed to the Justices, Sheriffs, Mayors, Bailiffs, Constables, Ministers and others granting them the ancient rights and priveleges in the 'Manor of Swynefford [Kingswinford] and Chenett alias Clent', Staffs. as held from the crown in ancient demesne.
Note 1: translation [and translation in Amphlett] has regnal year of Charles I as first ('primo') i.e. 1625 whereas the Latin copy has it as the fifth ('quinto') i.e. 1629.
Note 2: 'Surveyed in Worcestershire in Domesday Book', Clent 'was soon afterwards annexed to Staffordshire' as 'it paid the farm it rendered to the king, through the manor of Kingswinford in that county'; in 1832 'it was again annexed to Worcestershire for Parliamentary purposes' but in '1844 it became part of Worcestershire for all purposes' (VCH, Clent, p.50-54).
