With modern typescript note: 'The witnesses to this deed include Roger de Somery, Lord of the Manor of Dudley 1272 - 1291, who served Edward I in the conquest of Wales, and was later commanded to appear in person before the king for killing a stag in the Royal Forest of Kinver. It is believed that the stone coffin, 8ft. long, which was found in the Priory ruins contained the remains of this Lord of the Manor'.
